Unusual workplaces in Rio de Janeiro – GLEM Offices

Designing the GLEM Offices in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a problem particularly due to the situation – beneath a triangular finish of a concrete stand for rowing competitions. Featuring three flooring, the workplace area is partly buried. Designed by structure and urbanism apply Mareines+Patalano, the GLEM Offices function three assembly rooms, two loos, a working space and a technical room on the primary flooring. The second flooring is occupied by the administrators’ workplaces, whereas the final flooring accommodates casual area just like the small kitchen, a eating desk, a cushty couch and altering amenities. Only two small facades of the constructing allowed using home windows. The facade that includes pedestrian ramps was closed with clear clear glass.

This ensures pure mild and solved the issue of privateness. Another facade was coated in a semi-circle glazing with translucent bullet-proof glass, whereas the inside void was occupied by the central staircase and adorned with eucalyptus laminated beams and a bamboo mesh. The concrete roof acts like public seating on the surface, so the structure of the workplace needed to adjust to constructing laws.
